Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at care@pulsecounselling.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Counselling is a partnership between you and me, where we work together to explore challenges, understand emotions, and develop strategies for well-being. It’s intended to support things like anxiety, grief, life transitions, relationship struggles, and more.

Your first session is a chance to get to know each other: what brought you here, your concerns, history, and what you hope to achieve. It’s also a time to see if working together feels comfortable. In ongoing sessions, we’ll balance exploring your experiences with practical tools to help you cope and grow.

The number of sessions required can vary depending on your individual needs and goals. Some clients begin to notice changes within 6-8 sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy. We’ll regularly evaluate your progress to ensure the sessions are helping you reach your goals.

It depends on your goals and circumstances. Some people notice changes within 6-8 sessions; others benefit from working for longer. We’ll check in regularly on your progress and adjust as needed.

Yes — if finances are tight, I offer reduced rates or sliding scale options when available. Please ask; we’ll try to find something that works.

Fees may change over time; current rates will always be listed at booking.

You can schedule through the website or via JaneApp. If you must cancel or reschedule, please try to let me know at least 24 hours ahead to avoid a cancellation fee. I understand emergencies happen — reach out if needed.

Yes. Sessions are available in both English and Tagalog/Filipino, whichever you feel more comfortable speaking.

Our work is grounded in psychotherapy and counselling. Sessions are trauma-informed and tailored to your needs, with both reflective conversation and practical tools to support change.

Absolutely. Everything you share during sessions stays private and secure. Confidentiality is a core commitment here. The only times confidentiality might be broken are in legally required situations, like risk of harm to you or others — and I’ll always discuss that with you beforehand.

That’s totally okay — many people feel uncertain at first. I offer a free consultation so we can talk about your concerns, expectations, and whether counselling feels like a good fit for you.

Yes. If your health insurance plan covers counselling sessions, receipts are provided after each session so you can submit them directly to your provider for reimbursement. Please note that we do not offer direct billing. Coverage varies, so it’s best to check with your insurance provider ahead of time to confirm eligibility.

Sessions online happen via secure, private video platform. You’ll need a quiet, stable-internet connection. I’ll share details once we set up the appointment.
